Old GBPL Guestbook I was home for New Years. The city looks better than it has in a long time. I was happy
to see many new stores open and many old ones still there. Some things are nice to go home
to. I look forward to visiting again. Are there any websites or anyone that can tell me more about the tanneries in
Gloversville? Looking for friends - surname Billington. Hope someone can help. I visited friends in Gloversville in the 1950's & 60's. Is there a local newspaper
where I might place an ad to try contact them? Welcome back G'ville. Sure missed all the communications. Does anyone have the answer
to WIZR question? This is funny, I too stumbled on this page....Jason, my sister is your English teacher
I believe? I recognized many names from the "guestbook" even though I gratuated
from GHS in 1972..... Add more memory and we will do a photo section...that would be a
hoot, Been in Texas for 20 some years.....But I still have a Gloversville accent.....dz It was so nice to be in Gloversville for Thanksgiving. Took a drive around and did some
reminiscing. The new middle school looks great! I too, am proud to have grown up in
G'ville and find this site a way to keep in touch with "home". It's amazing what you stumble across on the web! This is a great site -- my hat's off
to its creator. Read every entry in the book, recognized some names. Looks like there's a
lot of people out there like me, wjo left G'ville physically but not ment ally. I'm proud
to call Gloversville my home town. Would enjoy hearing from any GHS Class of '66 grads. Anyone remembering Ronald Beebe, former resident of G'Ville. Ron was recently admitted
to a Medical Care Facility in Clinton, NY. He is in need of encouragement and with the
holiday season coming up could use some cheer. His address is: Ronald Beeb e, Luthern
Home, 108 Utica Road, Clinton, NY 13323. I'm sure he would appreciate any and all cards.
Thanks. I would Like to find out The e-mail of Kelly Hanury there. Thanks for helping me on
that! Here is another TRIVIA Question: When radio station WIZR, in J'Town, first started
operations, Who was a local announcer, what was the type of mobile news car, and there was
a saying on the car, what was the saying? HAPPY THANKSGIVING HaY. Hello, Ijust stumbled upon this site. I think it is great. Left G'ville in 74 , been
back on occasion over the years but I rarely get to see anyone. I have been living in
WPB., Fl. area for the last 22 years. Sure do miss the Adirondacks. Especially i n the
fall. Was delighted to hear that G'ville beat Johnstown in football. I wish that The
Leader would report on GHS sports more in their website. Anyone out there that remembers
me I would be glad to hear from you. KPrietti @ aol.com. See ya, Kevin (formely Van Slyke)
Prietti (GHS class of 1970) Answer to TV cop Tria Question. Brodrick Crawford from the TV Show "Highway
Patrol" is buried in the Prospect Hill Cemetery. Question from Mr. Beebe in November. "Where was the underground railroad house
located in Gloversville during the Civil War". This building was on Kingsboro next to
the gas station off of 8th Avenue. I'm sorry I don't remember the address. This is a great
page and I hope that the League is successful in not only reviving downtown Gloversville
but preserving its unique historic character. Good Luck Apparently the G'Ville Trivia #2 was too easy, how about this one? Where was the
underground railroad house located in Gloversville during the Civil War? The original name of Gloversville was Stump City. But who is the famous person? Glove rsville Citizens must and will stop. We would greatly appreciate it if you could

further north than Virginia for that matter...I met a girl from Gloversville named
Mandie...she's definitely the sweetest thing I've ever known. If people like her are great
in number in Gloversville...Gloversville surely must be paradise Miss Fulton County,How proud we are of you. You have done a great job.Keep up the good

mezmorizing blue eyes and her baby like dimples. I wanted to let everyone in the town know
how lucky they are to have her represent them. So, what has she done for you lately....
everything that everyone was to stuckup to do. Stay real and keep beautiful women like
Amber comming out of your town for the rest of us to enjoy!! Miss Fulton County (Amber Dalmata) has done a wonderful job. She has been an
inspiration to many people in Fulton County. She has put many smiles on many on the people
in Fulton County. She did a great job in all the parades. She is very natural and very
beautiful. Miss Fulton County has the best personality, she is approachable and very
sincere. Have you ever seen her with children? They look at her as if she is a princess
and they all love her. Amber had a lot going on she was not only a student at FMCC, she
was a volunteer soccer coach, volunteer tutor, Miss Fulton County and she was a teenager.
That is a lot of work and she did it all with poise. Amber's platform is wonderful. Her
platform is the need for volunteers in our society. What a great thing for gloversville to
promote. Volunteers is what we need and there isn't enough of them. Miss Fulton County did
a great job promoting her platform. Miss Fulton County helped with the human society. She
made people realize how important it was to help these animals. Miss Fulton County did a
wonderful job at Miss New York State. She shined like you wouldn't believe. She made
Fulton County proud. No she didn't win but she is 18 years old competing against 24yr olds
who have been out of college for three years. She did her best and looked great doing it.
I recently attended the little Miss Pageant. Amber was there and the way the girls looked
at her was just magnificent. They were so excited to see her and she was very happy to be
back in Fulton County. She has made a difference in Fulton County. She is young, fresh.
and intelligent. She always has a smile on her face! I will be sad to see our Miss Fulton
County give up her crown. She has done a wonderful job and no one can take that away from
her. She won fair and square and people should give her credit for this remarkable reward.
We love our Miss Fulton County 1998 and always will!!! I graduated in 1989, if there is anyone out there from the class, please email me. My

My Great grandparents immigrated to the USA from Vilna to Gloversville. My
greatgrandfather Pesach (Philip) Nelkin married to Dora Dresner Nelkin had many children
all in Gloversville. Pesach was of course a glove cutter. Their daughter, Celia, my
"Bubby" married Hyman Rabinowitz, also a glovecutter , and an immegrant from
Warsaw. I recently read Herbert Engels book which confermed many of the stories my mother
has told me about her youth anfd our family in Gloversville. However I am really
interested in learning more about this city. I would be very happy to hear from some one
who may be able to tell me where I can learn more. Sincerely, David Gurtler Nice to find a tie to the old neighborhood on the web. Greetings to other members of
the class of '61, the last and the best! Hello all in G-ville.Spend every day there. WOW, Good to see that the old home-front of 20 years ago, still has a candle burning,
so to speak! I haven't passed that way in over 15 years myself, but plan to someday,
really don't know why! It must be some sort of "salmon spawning" type instinct
or something?? But, when I get there, I plan to have a whole lot more fun than I did as a
teen-ager! And, if any of my old friends read this, they know what I am talking about!
Hello to the G-ville High, Class of 80, 78, 79 & 81 Left G'ville in 1967 (9th grade)and have thought alot about the city over the years.
I've only been through twice since. Born and raised in Gloversville. It is great to see the WWW locally. Certainly was a pleasure to visit you page, and was elated to see some of the
established name from the early 40s still thriving...I'm in hopes some of my old pals will
contact me for a chat on the Efnet #30+. my hat is off to Jason for a fine job on your
Website Left Gloversville in 1983 but our hearts are still there. Would be nice to hear from
some old friends. Life does exist in Fulton County. Keep it going. The Glove Theater restoration is a
great idea. I saw many a movie there when I was younger. It is great to see this kind of cooperative effort by area businesses. I hope it
continues to expand. It is refreshing to the read positive comments from your visitors. This is a very good Site, for Gloversville, but you can't move the windows to see the
whole itewm. Keep up the good work, in promoting downtown. Enjoyed my visit - good job group! Nice design Jason. Happy New Year everyone! I was born in G'Ville and have visited many times 'cause i still have family there, I
love that little town I sadly abandoned G'ville in '76 and am happy to see tidbits from home on the web. A
quick visit in '96 revealed that the sky was the limit downtown. Hope your organization is
successful in revitalizing a once-great district. Good luck. This city is great I just graduated from Gloversville last year...I was amazed today when I started doing
some research and I found a page on Gloversville. I think this is an excellent idea!! Born and raised in G'ville. Left in 1974 and settled in the Pacific Northwest. We own a
book/gift shop in the downtown. Seems as though we all are experiencing the same woes and
striving to revitalize our downtown business districs. Nice page. We'll visit often. (Sure
do miss the 4 Corners and Kohler's Cigar Store.) I am a former resident of G'ville, and wish to move back someday.I miss my little town. I hope this will help promote business in Downtown Gloversville. I think this site is a
great idea and I am glad someone thought of it. Also, think the Web page designer is
execlent. |
